EXOTIC WORLD TRAVEL
September 2010 (exact dates tbd) Papua New Guinea $ 7286 ($ 6995 by ck)
This year you will fly to Australia for two days and then make the short journey from Cairns to Port Moresby. Werner Kurn, the proprietor of Ocean Enterprises (our Travel Partner) will spend 8 days at The Tawali Resort ( www.tawali.com ) while the famous Underwater Videographer and Guide, Chuck Nicklin, will board the Spirit of Niugini for 7 days. So you have a choice to stay either land based or dive from a live aboard. At the end of the trip, both groups travel together to the highlands of PNG and see the strange and wonderful Annual Sing Sing Festival. Some of you have heard me talk about it and perhaps may have seen some of my pictures of this event. Tribes from the remote corners of PNG gather for just a short time in the town of Goroka, and don their traditional costumes for an incredible display of music, dance, and culture.
October 2010 (exact dates tbd) Indonesia Lembeh Strait,
North Sulawesi $ 5203 ($ 4995 by ck)
You will travel with Werner from LAX via Singapore and arrive in Manado. The first stop will be Lembeh Resort ( http://www.lembehresort.com/ ) for 4 days of small critter diving…especially great for macro photography. From there you will move to the Minahasa Lagoon Resort (http://www.minahasalagoon.com/ ) for 4 more days of reef diving around Bunaken Marine Park, known for its incredible bio-diversity…thousands of fish species and dozens of coral varieties. Both resorts are boutique style with individual cottage accommodations.
March 15 - 31, 2010 Raja Ampat, Indonesia
(Northwestern Papua) $ 8,120 ($ 7,995 by ck)
You will travel with Werner on the luxurious Seven Seas liveaboard (http://www.thesevenseas.net/ ) This vessel comes highly recommended as a first class operation. The diving in this part of Indonesia is world class and can only be reached by boat. There are no resorts to speak off that can be used to access the dive spots we want to get to. Raja Ampat is known for sea fans, soft corals, lots of small stuff, critters, nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, different kinds of fish like the wobbegong shark and walking shark, mobula rays in anchovy schools in the south and manta rays and hard coral dives in the north, and beautiful limestone islands. You will first travel from LAX to Jakarta and stay one night at the Sheraton before continuing our trip the next morning to Raja Ampat.
3 trips = October 6-14, 15-23, & 24-Nov 1, 2010
Komodo Islands, Indonesia $ 6244 ($ 5,995 by ck)
You will board same live aboard for Komodo as was used for Raja Ampat, the Seven Seas. Komodo National Park is a World Heritage site, where we’ll dive amongst pristine corals, mantas, sharks, turtles, dolphins, dugong and giant pelagics…also tiny pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, frog fish, and lots of hard and soft corals. An amazing diversity of marine life! The islands feature patches of forest, white and red sand beaches, and clear blue lagoons. Komodo boasts countless beautiful deserted beaches, hiking trails, great wildlife, shallow reefs for snorkeling and lagoons for water-skiing. Perfect for divers to take their family on a holiday, as there is something to be discovered for everyone. Please note that these destinations are all in high demand and sell out very early…we are fortunate to have the space! Because the availability on each trip is so limited, and the live boards and resorts require large up-front deposits to hold space, we will need to get your commitments and deposits in as soon as possible if you wish to join us on one of these journeys.
